Born in Chicago, from an early age Vicki loved to draw and spent her childhood making pictures. In the early eighties she studied at Chicago’s American Academy of Art with Eugene Hall, an artist who further instilled in her a love of form and taught her classical drawing techniques.
Since those early years of art training she has spent four decades refining her vision, experimenting with mediums and techniques, and deeply exploring color. Along with paintings on canvas and paper, she has made enormous backdrop paintings for theater and ballet. These large-format paintings led to restoring murals and then painting original murals on walls and substrates. Many of her projects included local students and community as assistants.
Now working full-time in her studio, she has settled back into her favorite subject: skies. With the backdrop of the Oregon Coast in her neighborhood, she has ample inspiration from the endlessly changing skyscapes overhead.
